New Year, New Amazon Fees for USA and Europe

New year has come and new fees are announced by Amazon for Europe and USA

First the increase took place in USA. On January 18, 2022, Amazon increased FBA fees for fulfillment, removal, and disposal. It will then follow up on those changes with increases to storage fees on February 1st, along with a brand-new long-term storage fee that will kick in on inventory sooner than the current 365 days.

Then comes Europe with increase starting March 31, 2022. Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) fulfillment fee changes will take effect and apply to all Amazon Europe stores (UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden and Poland).

How are Amazon FBA Fees Changing in 2022?

Unsurprisingly, Amazon FBA fees in 2022 will increase across the board. All of the biggest categories will see increases – fulfillment fees, storage fees, and removal and disposal. So – what are those changes?

In Europe starting March 31, 2022, Amazon will introduce and remove certain size and weight tiers in their fulfillment fee rate card to better align fees with their fulfillment costs.

  • Introduction of new size and weight tiers

To continue providing a low-cost alternative to the standard FBA fulfillment fee, Amazon will introduce three new size and weight tiers for Small and Light. These include extra large envelope 225 g, small parcel 150 g and small parcel 400 g. All other Small and Light size and weight tiers will remain the same.

To help make selling on Amazon more rewarding for sellers, Amazon will increase the price eligibility threshold of Small and Light units from €10 to €11 in the France, Italy and Spain Amazon stores.

Amazon will hit every size tier with a fulfillment fee increase, and percentage increases will range from 2% on the low end to as much as 12% on the high end.

For Europe starting March 31, 2022 fulfillment fee across different programs in Amazon European stores will change. To help sellers sell between EU and UK after Brexit, Amazon will offer a 20% discount on European fulfillment network (EFN) fees from the EU (Germany, France, Italy and Spain) to the UK and vice versa for a promotional period of one year, starting March 31, 2022.

In USA FBA Storage Fees will increase by $0.08 per cubic foot, or 10.6% on February 1st, 2022. On May 15th, 2022, Amazon will introduce a brand-new “aged inventory surcharge” to units that have been in Amazon’s fulfillment centers for 271 to 365 days. While that time period used to accrue zero additional storage fees, it will now add $1.50 per cubic foot on top of regular storage fees, nearly tripling storage cost.

Concerning USA, Amazon is more than doubling the Removal or Disposal Order Fee for most SKUs. This change is aimed squarely at removing all but the fastest-moving SKUs from Amazon FBA.
